With the first half of Cascade Conference play in the books, No. 14 LC State Volleyball sits in third place in the most competitive conference in the NAIA with a 10-3 record overall and 7-3 in CCC play. The Warriors split a tough weekend on the road with a 3-1 victory over (RV) Bushnell and a four-set loss to No. 4 Corban (Ore.). LC State is back on the road this weekend for contests at Oregon Tech (9-8, 3-7) and (RV) Southern Oregon (7-10, 4-6).
The Warriors open the second half of the conference season on Friday at Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls. LC State is 7-8 against the Owls since 2018 and defeated OIT 3-1 in Lewiston this season. Juliauna Forgach Aguilar led the contest with 25 kills and Taylor Boyce tallied 20. Teagan Scott dished out a career-best 47 assists and five different Warriors had double-digit digs.
OIT’s Abigail Sorensen leads the CCC in digs per set (4.66), Lucy Boyd is second in assists per set (8.52) and Aleksen Thayer ranks fourth in blocks per set (1.25).
The Warriors face Southern Oregon on Saturday in Ashland. LC State is 2-12 against SOU since 2011 but earned a five-set victory over the Raiders earlier this season. Forgach Aguilar led the Warriors with 17 kills and Boyce added 12. Karissa Lindner set the LC State single-match record with 15 blocks en route to NAIA National Defender of the Week honors. The Warriors put up 18 blocks as a team with the help of nine from Forgach Aguilar.
Forgach Aguilar leads the CCC and is fifth in the NAIA in kills per set (4.41). She is second overall in total kills with 216, despite seven less matches played than the conference leader. Boyce is fifth in kills per set (3.29), Scott leads the Cascade in assists per set (8.52) and Ella Stosich is third in digs per set (4.24). Lindner is second in the CCC blocks per set (1.33) which ranks eighth in the NAIA.
