UBC Defeats No. 22 LC State in Regular Season Finale

LEWISTON, Idaho. – British Columbia came out firing on Sunday to defeat No. 22 LC State 9-2 and win the regular season Cascade Conference title. UBC will host the CCC postseason tournament next weekend in Vancouver, B.C.

The Warriors finished the regular season with a 32-14 record overall and 28-9 in CCC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Like Saturday, UBC scored in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The Thunderbirds added three more in the second to grow the LC State deficit to 5-0.

A relay in from Brandon Cabrera in the center to Izzy Madariaga at second to Bulla Ephan at the plate ended the inning to hold UBC scoreless in the third.

Dominic Signorelli put the Warriors in the board with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the third, but the Thunderbirds answered with two in the fourth.

Jack Sheward drove in Ike George in the bottom of the fifth, but UBC maintained control of the contest.

STAT RECAP
George, Cabrera and Signorelli each had two hits in the game.

Robby Butenschoen threw 5.1 innings of relief of Landon Webb and struck out five batters. Jace Taylor and Levi Anderson also appeared out of the bullpen.
