Lane Leads Late Rally in No. 11 LC State Warriors’ Four-Set Loss to No. 6 Corban

LEWISTON, Idaho – Despite a standout performance from junior outside hitter Aubree Lane, the No. 11 LC State Volleyball team's late surge was not enough to overcome No. 6 Corban (Ore.) on Saturday. The hosting Warriors fell to the visiting Warriors 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 27-25).

Lane was one kill shy of her career high with 14 in the match on a .423 attack percentage. Taylor Boyce and Hadyn Smith each provided offensive power with 13 kills each.

The first home loss of the season has the LC State record at 12-4 on the season and 6-4 in Cascade Conference play.

Corban rallied to pull away 15-7, but swings by Smith and Boyce made it a 15-10 difference. Back-to-back kills by Boyce brought LC within one, 22-21, but Corban answered with a 3-1 run to end the set 25-22.

Corban jumped in front 6-4 in the third frame before four straight kills by Wilson, Boyce and Smith put LC State in the lead 8-6. Two swings by Lane helped grow the advantage to 14-10, and a pair of kills each from Lane and Wilson made it 18-17. Corban evened the set 20-20, but two kills from Carpena and a block by Lane and Wilson won the set for LC State at 25-21.

LC State nearly pulled off a major comeback in the fourth frame. After an ace by Ella Stosich and kills by Boyce and Focht had LC up 8-6, Corban answered to take a 16-12 lead. Smith and Karissa Lindner combined for three kills before a block by Lindner and Smith evened things up 16-16, but Corban pushed the score to match point at 24-20.
