LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 20 LC State Volleyball put together a dominant performance en route to a quick sweep of Oregon Tech at home on Friday. The Warriors held OIT to a .067 attack percentage and earned the victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-7, 25-21.
LC State used huge opening runs in each set to take control of the match early. Oregon Tech entered the contest as the top team in the conference in blocks per set and digs per set, but the Warriors outplayed the Lady Owls in both categories.
The win improves the LC State record to 13-4 overall and 7-4 in Cascade Conference play.
Between sets two and three, LC State Athletics recognized longtime head athletic trainer Tracy Collins as part of Pink Night. Warrior student-athletes took to the court to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Collins beating breast cancer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
LC State took a commanding 9-0 lead to start the first set.
Addison Wilson,
Mikale Roy and
Hadyn Smith combined for six kills in the span,
Makenzie Stout dealt an ace and Smith and Wilson put up a block. Swings by Wilson,
Karissa Lindner and Roy pushed the margin to 13-3 as the Warriors continued to surge.
Ashlyn Watt served an ace at 20-11, and the set closed with a kill by
Alba Carpena, ace by
Kadence Moore and block by Carpena and Lindner at 25-13.
The Warriors kicked things into an even higher gear in the second frame.
Taylor Boyce tallied four kills, Wilson, Boyce and Smith combined for a pair of blocks and
Teagan Scott had two aces as part of an 11-0 opening run. Kills by Smith and Boyce, along with an ace by Watt, made it 16-2, and a five-point rally with contributions from
Aubree Lane, Carpena, and Lindner had the advantage at 21-3. Kills by Lindner, Boyce and
Kate Schneider carried the set to a 25-7 close.
LC State grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third frame with kills by Roy and Lane and a block by Smith and Wilson. Swings by Wilson, Lane, Smith and Carpena made it 11-6, but OIT rallied to cut the difference to 16-13. Two kills by Lane and a solo block by Lindner grew the margin back to 19-13, but the Owls answered again to pull within two, 20-18. The Warriors regrouped after a timeout and kills by Roy, Wilson and Smith closed out the match with a 25-21 victory in the set.

Lane led LC State with eight kills on a .300 attack percentage while Boyce and Roy each added seven with matching .500 clips.
Scott led the setters with 23 assists to go with seven digs, and
Kendall Focht dished out 12. Watt, Scott and Moore each served a pair of aces.
Lindner led LC State at the net with five blocks, including one solo, and Wilson and Smith each assisted on four.
Ella Stosich led the back row with 10 digs and Moore collected eight.
LC State outblocked Oregon Tech 9-6 and had a 43-37 edge in digs. The Warriors dealt seven service aces compared to one from the Owls. LC State hit .313 as a team with just one error in the second set, three in the first and nine in the third.
OIT's Shalyn Bliss led the match with nine kills and Taryn Ramsay dished out 20 assists. Alexa Gugliotta, Aleksen Thayer and Steffini Goss each assisted on three blocks, and Kaley Whalen collected 10 digs.

LC State continues the homestand on Saturday with a matchup against No. 22 Southern Oregon. First serve is set for 4 p.m. in the P1FCU Activity Center.
