FOREST GROVE, Ore. – No. 25 LC State Men's Tennis opened its weekend on the road with a 5-2 victory over NCAA Division III Pacific University on Friday. The Warriors are now 4-3 on the season and 3-0 against DIII opponents.
Pacific took an early lead with two wins in doubles.
Kevin Lu and
Giacomo Moreira earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, but the Warriors trailed 1-0 at the start of singles action.
LC State won five of six singles contests to clinch the win. Moreira dominated at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, while
Leonel Gatti edged his opponent 7-6(8), 7-5 in the fourth spot.
Louam Boivin and Lu each dropped just three games in their matches. Boivin earned a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 2 singles while Lu won 6-2, 6-1 in the sixth match.
Gautam Balakrishnan won the No. 5 match 6-4, 6-2.
