LEWISTON, Idaho – Jackson Jaha had a standout weekend, highlighted by three home runs in game one of Sunday's doubleheader sweep of Corban (Ore.). No. 7 LC State outscored Corban 48-5 in the four-game sweep with wins of 11-1 and 11-0 in the weekend-ending twin bill. Both games went seven innings.
The victories have the LC State record at 22-3 overall and 14-3 in CCC action.
GAME ONE: No. 7 LC State def. Corban 11-1 (7 innings)
Two swings by Jaha had LC State in front 2-0 through three innings after a pair of solo shots. An error in the third put
Sam Weber on base before a single by
Anthony Karagiannopoulos drove in a run for a 3-0 lead. The offensive support backed up
Mason Goodson's three innings of no-hit baseball.
LC State notched a four-run inning in the bottom of the fourth.
Cade Westerlund was hit by a pitch and came around to score on a two-error play.
Payton Smith drew a walk and moved to third on a double by
Brandon Nguyen. A walk to Jaha loaded the bases before a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Izzy Madariaga plated a run.
Bryce Johnson doubled ahead of a sacrifice fly by Weber to make it 7-0.
Corban tallied an unearned run in the top of the fifth and
Zak Sullivan took over on the mound in the sixth. The LC State Warriors added a pair in the home half of the inning with an RBI double by Weber.
Jaha called game in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run home run, his third of the contest, to enforce the run rule.
STAT RECAP
Jaha had a monster game with a 3-for-4 performance, all home runs. He drove in four runs, and Weber knocked in three. Jaha is the 13
th different Warrior to hit three home runs in a game and first since
Charlie Updegrave in 2023.
Goodson earned his third win of the season after five innings of work. He struck out seven and did not give up an earned run. Sullivan tossed two frames and struck out two without walking a batter.
GAME TWO: No. 7 LC State def. Corban 11-0 (7 innings)
LC State tallied four runs on four hits in the first inning of the second game.
Spencer Zeller led off the game with a base hit and Jaha walked. Madariaga notched an RBI single and Smith doubled to bring in two.
Jordan Justice made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly.
Ty Rusko led off the bottom of the second with a base hit and he scored on a double by Jaha for a 5-0 advantage. A solo home run by
Jordan Justice had the lead at 6-0 through three.
LC State put up a five spot in the fourth after a walk to Zeller got the inning started. He scored on a single by Jaha who reached third on an error. He scored on a groundout by Johnson and another error allowed Jones to reach and extend the inning. Smith singled and Justice walked to load the bases before
Zane Bidwell cleared them with a three-RBI double. The lead sat at 11-0 through four.
Jackson Cloud,
Kason O'Neil and
Zach Elsos combined to close out the game without a run allowed to force the run rule for the third game in the series.
STAT RECAP
Jaha and Smith each had two hits in the game and Bidwell drove in three runs.
Cloud earned his fifth win after three innings of relief of
Jace Taylor. Each struck out two batters, O'Neil fanned a pair and Elsos struck out a batter to end the game.
