Offense Erupts as No. 7 LC State Sweeps C of I Behind 21-3 Victory

LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 7 LC State Baseball scored the most runs at home since 2022 to complete the series sweep of the College of Idaho. Ten different Warriors tallied at least one hit in the 21-3 victory.

The victory has the LC State record at 26-3 on the season and 18-3 in CCC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jace Taylor struck out two batters in the top of the first inning to get the game started, and Brandon Nguyen nailed a runner trying to stretch a double into a triple for the first out in the third.

LC State put the first runs of the game on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Bryce Johnson notched a two-out double down the left field line before Noah Weintraub had his first home run of the season clear the wall in right center.

The Yotes took the lead in the top of the fourth with three runs on two hits before Zak Sullivan came in to stop the C of I momentum, then Bulla Ephan tied things up quickly in the next half inning. Sam Weber doubled to lead off the frame and scored on a base hit through the right side. Jackson Jaha added to the advantage with a two-run blast for a 5-3 margin.

Weber and Ephan led off the bottom of a big sixth inning with back-to-back singles and a hit by Nguyen brought in a run. A double steal by Nguyen and courtesy runner Bo Stinson scored one and Izzy Madariaga made it 8-3 with an RBI hit. A walk and error had Johnson and Weintraub on base ahead of a two-RBI single by Spencer Zeller. A wild pitch brought Weintraub in to score and Ephan kept things going with his second hit of the inning to give the Warriors a 13-3 lead.

Tyler Logan took over on the mound in the top of the seventh and worked a scoreless frame and LC State went back to work at the plate. Jaha led off with a double and free passes to Danner Salisbury and Stinson loaded the bases. Hits by Weintraub and Zeller drove in three runs.

Ryan Prescott kept the seventh inning alive with a walk and Kooper Jones brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. Jordan Justice cleared the bases with a three-run home run for a 20-3.

Zach Elsos struck out two in the top of the eighth and Stinson sent a solo shot to left in the home half of the frame to make it 21-3. Joey Estrada closed out the contest on the mound with a 1-2-3 inning. A diving catch by Justice in left ended the contest.
