LEWISTON, Idaho – Coach Austin Johnson announced the addition of Gavin Matuska out of Ballard High School in Seattle. The incoming freshman will join LC State Men's Basketball team in the fall.
 
"Gavin is a great addition to our program," Johnson said. "He has really gotten better the last couple of years and was a big part of his team's success at Ballard. Gavin brings a lot of skill to go along with his height and length. He can space the floor a bit and has shown to be a good passer from the forward position. As he gets stronger and acclimates to the physicality and pace of the college game, he has a chance to be a special player."
 
Matuska was a standout at Ballard where he averaged a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds per game throughout his career. He was voted First-Team All-Metro Sound Division twice. Matuska holds the Ballard record for rebounds in a single game with 25. He averaged a double-double as a senior with 20.2 points and 12.4 rebounds per game to go with 3.2 blocks per contest. He played AAU basketball for Seattle Select.
 
"As much potential as Gavin has, one of the best things about him is who he is as a teammate and how serious he takes being a part of a team and the responsibilities that come with it," Johnson added.
