LEWISTON, Idaho – Montana Tech showed why it is one of the top-ranked NAIA volleyball teams in the country Saturday afternoon at the LC Activity Center, but the Warriors didn't let the Diggers waltz away with the Frontier Conference decision.
LCSC (7-13 overall, 2-7 in league play) pushed Tech (17-7, 7-1) to the limit, 29-27, in the first set before falling 25-15, 25-18 in the final two.
Coach
LaToya Harris-Alexander said consistency continues to be a battle for the Warriors.
"We didn't perform offensively like the way we did in the first set," she said. "Tech doesn't fold. If a team beats them, they have to beat them by the books. We just made errors at the end when it counted the most."
That's not to say praise wasn't warranted for the play of some of the Warriors.
Rachel Gregg was a force throughout the afternoon with 13 kills and a .278 hitting percentage.
Lauren West provided 18 assists. Defensively, Harris-Alexander noted the determined, consistent efforts of Gregg (12 digs),
Natalie Batiste (18 digs) and
Luana Thompson (16 digs).
"We have to make adjustments," Harris-Alexander said. "It comes down to who is going to do it. How can we utilize our go-to players."
LC returns to the Activity Center Wednesday night at 6 for a non-conference match against Whitworth.
