Box Score 2 CALDWELL, IDAHO. – The LCSC baseball team scored 29 runs in the doubleheader against College of Idaho on Monday. The Yotes gave the Warriors a scare in both games, as they scored 22 runs in the DH.
Thankfully, LCSC was on the winning side of both games to sweep COI 19-14 in Game 1 and 10-8 in Game 2.
With the wins, the Warriors improve to 5-2 on the season and winners of five straight. The Yotes fall to 5-7.
Raymond Pedrina led the day with 5 RBI, four of which came in Game 1. He started the day in the first with a 2 RBI single to give LCSC a 3-0 lead. The Warriors scored 13 runs in the first four innings. LCSC led 13-5 after four.
The Warriors added two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and eighth and two in the ninth to secure the wild win. The Yotes cut the deficit to 17-14 in the eighth inning and added pressure. But LCSC added the two in the ninth and was able to hold on.
Brock Ephan tallied a team-high three hits. Every starting play reached base safely.
Kevin Hamann started the game off and lasted two innings allowing four hits, two earned runs while striking out three. Four relievers were used in the game.
David Wilson was credited with the win throwing 1.2 innings.
In Game 2, the Warriors scored right from the get-go as
Evan Douglas scored from a wild pitch. In the bottom of the inning, the Yotes took their first lead of the day with two runs off of LCSC starter
Rian Bassett.
Bassett went 3.1 innings and allowed seven hits, five runs and struck out four.
Gunnar Buhner tied the game in the second with a solo homer to center. In the third, the Warriors retook the lead from a
Matt Thompson 2 RBI double.
Chase Hafer added a RBI double giving the Warriors a 5-2 lead after three. COI added three runs in the fourth to once again tighten the LCSC lead to 6-5.
The Warriors answered with three runs between the fifth and seventh. Buhner added another RBI single and
Logan Griffin's RBI double scored two more in the seventh.
The Yotes scored three runs in the seventh but the Warriors held on for the win. Buhner and Douglas both tallied three hits.
Tanner Simpson was awarded the win in relief. He tossed 1.2 innings allowing just one hit while striking out four.
Steve Pastora notched his second save on the season with a clean inning.
LCSC will host British Columbia in their home-opener on Friday starting at 5 p.m. on Harris Field.
