Unfortunately, for LC, the Fighting Saints were able to hit the free throws in OT to defeat the Warriors 81-78 Friday night.

With the loss, the Warriors fall to 17-7 on the season and 7-5 in the Frontier. Carroll improves to 21-3 and 11-1 respectively.

"We did not come out with the fire and focus it takes to win on the road in the first half," Head Coach
Brandon Rinta said. "I was proud of the way we came out with much more energy in the second half."

Both games this season between the two teams have come down to the wire. The Fighting Saints hit crucial free throws in Game 1 a couple weeks ago in Lewiston to give Carroll a 1-point win.

Trea Thomas scored the first points in the game for either team at the 18:43 mark.

Both teams traded leads in the first 13 minutes as no lead saw higher than four points. Carroll was able to get some breathing room with a 36-25 lead with 2:00 remaining in the half. McDaniel was able to hit a triple with 17 seconds to go to cut the deficit down to single digits as LC trailed 38-30 at the break.

Whatever Coach Rinta said at halftime clearly worked. The Warriors went on the biggest run of the game, a 15-0 opening in the second half gave LC the 45-38 lead as
Ty Higbie's triple silenced the crowd with 15:00 to go. Carroll responded and retook the lead just four minutes later which set up the great end to the second half.

"We came out with much more energy and put ourselves in position to win," Coach Rinta said. "Both teams were battling back and forth the last 25 minutes. We got some big stops and guys stepped up and hit some big shots."

Tied at 69-69, Oliver Carr's field goal in the paint gave the Fighting Saints the 2-point lead with 29 seconds left. The Warriors had to call two timeouts during before time expired but McDaniel was able to lay it in to force the OT period.

"Unfortunately you just can't have 18 turnovers and go 3-of-12 from the free throw line and expect to win on the road," Coach Rinta said. "We need to refocus for a quick turnaround for tomorrow."

Isaiah Omamogho scored the first points in the extra frame for either time, giving the Warriors a 3-point lead with 3:21 left. Oliver's field goal with 1:35 left gave the Fighting Saints the lead once more and were able to hold on with their free throws.

The Warriors will take on Montana Tech on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
