Box Score 2 LEWISTON, Idaho – Playing in their first games in over a week, the LCSC baseball shook off some rust to sweep the doubleheader against Oregon Tech 6-5 in extra innings in Game 1 and 3-1 in Game 2 Monday.
Battling the elements earlier in the week with snow and rain coming down on Harris Field, the Warriors improved to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in NAIA West play. The Owls fall to 6-10 on the season and 3-3 in conference.
LCSC started off hot in the first game scoring three runs in the bottom of the first.
J.J. Robinson started the scoring off with an RBI single bringing home
Raymond Pedrina. A wild pitch and a fielder's choice brought in the next runs for the Warriors taking a 3-0 lead after one complete inning.
Robinson homered in the fifth inning and Pedrina tallied an RBI triple in the sixth.
The Owls were held quiet until the eighth inning when they erupted for three in the top of the eighth and tied the game in the ninth, bringing home two.
In the bottom of the tenth,
Gunnar Buhner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run. Robinson led the game going 3-4 with a homer, 2 runs and 2 RBI.
Rian Bassett, the starter for LCSC, threw four shutout innings striking out two and allowing just two hits.
Steve Pastora was credited with the win as he threw two innings of relief to improve to 1-0 on the season.
In Game 2, the Owls scored first. They scored a run on two hits and left runners on the bases in the first as starter
Matt Fish got out of the jam.
Seaver Whalen gave the Warriors the lead with a 2-run homer in the second.
DePaul Blunt later singled home
Tyler McDowell for the game's last run in the fourth.
Fish lasted 4.1 innings allowing five hits and an earned run. He struck out six in the no decision. Anthony Balders was credited with his second win of the season, throwing 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed just one hit and fanned six Owls.
Connor Brogdon shut the door with a 1-2-3 inning for his first save.
The Warriors will travel to Georgia as they take on No. 5 Goergia Gwinnett on Thursday at 4 p.m. LCSC will play Indiana Tech and Madonna later in the week.
