BUTTE, Mont. –
Rachel Gregg hit .455 and had 16 kills as Lewis-Clark State won its second match of the day at the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge at Montana Tech.
The Warriors (2-5) swept Dickinson State 25-16, 25-19, 25-22 as they put together their most complete match of the season.
"This was another match where our serve receive was strong," coach
LaToya Harris-Alexander said. "Luana (Thompson) is controlling the serve. She keeps everyone disciplined in the back row."
Then there is Gregg on the attack.
"Rachel has become a go-to," Harris-Alexander said. "She can put the ball down. She's stepping into that role that makes everyone push even harder."
It's that push from the leaders, she said, that has infiltrated the rest of the team.
"We were the aggressor at the net," Harris-Alexander said. "We had more fight today. When the other team pushed back, we pushed back harder."
As a team, the Warriors had 41 kills off of a .226 hitting percentage. In addition to Gregg's team-leading effort,
Natalie Batiste and
Aubrey King had eight kills each.
Lauren West helped them out with 35 assists. Thompson had 25 digs and Gregg added four blocks.
The Warriors play Evergreen State at 10 a.m. Saturday and wrap up the tournament against College of Idaho at 2 p.m. Times at PT. Live stats and scoring are available
