LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College's volleyball team snapped a three-game skid with a 25-12, 19-25, 25-15, 25-23 Frontier Conference victory over Montana Western Saturday afternoon at the Activity Center.
Rachel Gregg provided the power with 16 kills and 17 digs – a season-high dig total, in pacing the Warriors (6-9, 1-3) through the match that did have its ups and downs.
"It's just staying focusing and believing that you have to continue to elevate your game," coach
LaToya Harris-Alexander said. "Western is a scrappy team. They have that fight within."
The Bulldogs (9-8, 1-3) showed that – particularly in the second and fourth sets. They dominated the middle portion of the second set before winning it and played even for most of the fourth before the Warriors scored the final four points to win. Gregg had the digs on the final three points to set up kills by
Maya Williamson (two) and
Hayley Alvarez to secure the match.
"It feels great to get a W," Harris-Alexander said. "I'm pleased with what we did."
The Warriors had their highest kill total of the season (64) after hitting .282 – their second best of the fall. Their 68 digs, which also included 17 from
Luana Thompson and 16 from
Natalie Batiste, were second best this fall.
Justine Cota Culp had four blocks to lead that category.
The Warriors are back on the road for four successive matches before returning to the Activity Center for Frontier Conference action Oct. 21-22 (Carroll College and Montana Tech).
