LEWISTON, Idaho – Both the Lewis-Clark State College Men's and Women's Golf teams have been rewarded for their strong play this fall by being ranked in Golfstat's Top 25 rankings of NAIA golf teams.
The Warrior men, who won two events this fall, are ranked No. 9 with an average individual score of 73.03 strokes per round. University of British Columbia, which is a Cascade Collegiate Conference member for golf, is No. 3 at 71.22 strokes.
On the women's side, the Warriors check in at No. 23. British Columbia is No. 4 and fellow CCC member Oregon Tech is No. 21.
The Warrior men also have two individuals ranked among the top 40 in the NAIA. Freshman
Kristof Panke leads the way at No. 32 with a 72.06 scoring average.
Devon Caruso, a senior, is close behind at No. 39 at 72.51 strokes, while junior Jorgen Viken is No. 103 at 73.87. In the two fall conference tournaments, Caruso leads all CCC golfers with a 70.5 average, while Panke is third at 71.8,
Carlos Davila seventh at 74.3, Viken ninth at 74.5, and
Jacob Waller 10th at 74.7.
LC State senior
Alexandra Schmidt is ranked No. 35 on the women's side at 74.69 strokes. She captured the individual title at the Bushnell Invitational earlier this week. Teammate
Kyla Currie, a sophomore, is No. 138 at 79.81. From the conference tournaments, Schmidt is fifth overall at 76.5 strokes, while Currie is No. 13 at 80.5.
Both Warrior teams have completed the fall season. The Warriors aren't scheduled to resume competition until the spring. The CCC Championships are slated for April 25-26 in Klamath Falls, Ore.
