RESULTS
 
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The LC State Warriors wrapped up a successful Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, with five individual victories and a win in a relay. Both teams finished fourth, with the women earning 120 points and the men garnering 89. Clayton VanDyke added an 800m title to his weekend, while Madi Carson, Ashley Britt and the women's 4x400m relay all earned titles as well.
 
"Excited now that we have concluded our first-ever Cascade Conference Championships," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "We had some pretty great performances today. Clayton came back and set a facility record in the 800m to win that event and improving his time for nationals, as well as breaking our school record. We had a great number of girls do an awesome job today as well. In the 400m hurdles we took four of the top five spots. In general, I am just really pleased with the overall team performance that we had today, with fourth place on both sides and the women not too far out of third. Looking forward to the future. We have about a week to prepare before we are off to outdoor nationals."
 
THE WOMEN
Madi Carson and Cynthia Smith got the day off to the strong start for the Warrior women. Carson captured the first Cascade Conference individual title in a field event in program history with her win in the pole vault (3.55m). Smith finished just behind her, earning All-Cascade Conference honors, with a hue PR of 3.45m. Desiree Winslow was 12^th in the event (2.60m).
 
Ashley Britt earned a Cascade Conference win with a time of 1:04.50 in the 400m hurdles. She was joined on the All-Cascade Conference team by teammate Rebekka Kalmbach who took third with her time of 1:05.03. LC State rounded out the top five with Sara Hathaway in fourth (1:07.92) and Keelyn Pilcher in fifth (1:07.93).
 
Britt and Kalmbach joined forces with Anika Grogan and Karlie Smith to win the 4x400m relay. The team placed first overall with a time of 3:58.85
 
Geraldin Correa earned her second all-conference honor of the weekend with a second-place finish in the 800m (2:17.77). Rylee Brown placed seventh in the event (2:20.97), Emily Adams was eighth (2:21.04) and Brooklyn Shell was 14^th (2:33.28) in her first 800m race.
 
In the javelin throw, Kea Stieglitz earned conference honors with her third-place finish at a mark of 42.16m. Her personal-best mark is also an automatic-qualifying standard. Discus thrower Delaney Warren earned All-CCC honors with her third-place mark in the event. She hit a distance of 42.49m. Rylie Overton placed 12^th in the field at a mark of 30.09m.
 
Anika Grogan ran a personal-best 25.38 to finish fourth in the 200m dash. Nikki Halbert placed 11^th with a time of 26.62. Grogan finished seventh in the 100m dash with a time of 12.47, and Halbert was 13^th (12.89).
 
Senior Emily Adams placed 10^th in the 5,000m (20:16.80). Alexa Horsley took 10^th in the triple jump (10.55m) in a big personal-best jump. Chelsie Testa was 11^th at 10.47m.
 
THE MEN
Clayton VanDyke picked up where he left off with his second win of the weekend. He won the 800m by nearly four seconds with a facility-record and school-record time of 1:51.83. Carter Gordon finished just off the top three with a fourth-place time of 1:56.31. Conner May was 12^th (2:00.30) and Cooper Carlson placed 15^th (2:06.07).
 
In the 5,000m, senior Cole Olsen earned his second All-CCC honor of the weekend with a third-place finish (15:15.92). Chase Barrow finished eighth (15:33.03) and VanDyke took 14^th (16:13.57).
 
Leon Menten led off the day for LC State with a third-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 58.80m. He earned All-Cascade Conference honors in the process. Dillon Novich finished seventh at a mark of 48.95m.
 
In the 400m hurdles, freshman Ike Hopper earned all-conference status with his second-place finish. He ran the race in a personal-best time of 54.81. Sean Spencer finished ninth (1:04.74).
 
The 4x400m relay team of Gordon, Hopper, Carlson and Christian Bothwell finished fifth at the meet (3:24.88).
 
Four Warriors competed in the pole vault, led by Andrew Carlyle's sixth-place finish. Both Carlyle and Nikolous Bertling hit a height of 4.50m, with Carlyle taking the tiebreaker to put Bertling in seventh. Isaiah Richards took ninth (4.15m) and Caleb Moore was 11^th (4.00m).
 
Senior Matt Hroma earned a 12^th-place finish it the discus with a throw of 37.51m, and Louis Pennow wrapped up his 100m dash career with a 13^th-place finish at a time of 11.25.
 
The Warriors now turn their focus to the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships set for May 26-28 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
