LEWISTON, Idaho – For the first time in the history of the award, a woman has won the Cascade Collegiate Conference Sports Information Director (SID) of the Year award., announced Thursday.
In Lewis-Clark State College's first year as a full member of the CCC,
Alisha Alexander picked up the CCC Mike Booth SID of the Year honor for the 2020-21 year. Booth was the conference/district SID for many years and after he passed, the CCC sports information directors decided to name the award after him.
Alexander is in her third year of working in the LC State athletic department where she performs a variety of duties with all 12 sports the Warriors participate in as well as with the athletic department. She is responsible for writing preview, game and feature stories as well as handling all social media platforms for Warrior athletics. She also oversees the websites for athletics and naiaworldseries.com, department initiatives related to sports information/marketing, produces the programs for the teams, and video production. She's part of the athletic staff game management team where she oversees press row, which includes the scorer's table and statistics, and also is responsible for scheduling the national anthem singers, among other personnel, at every LC sporting event.
During Warrior athletic events, Alexander is either taking pictures or running the statistics computer so people can follow along on their computers with live stats. She had a particularly busy spring when all 12 sports were active at the same time because of schedule changes brought on by the COVD-19 pandemic.
"Alisha is very deserving of this award and we are very proud of her," LC State Athletic Director Brooke Henze said. "Alisha has worked her tail off this spring and her skill sets have improved tremendously since her start at LC and very excited to see all the things she is capable of as she continues her time as a SID."
This year, Alexander helped the athletic department make improvements in streaming games and graphics. The athletic department streamed cross country races so they could be watched live. LC live streamed numerous events between November and May, including men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, and baseball. LC also hosted the conference championships for cross country, basketball and baseball and had two golf tournaments and two two-day volleyball events.
For the NAIA Basketball Opening Round tournaments at the LC Activity Center in March, Alexander distributed stat files and photos to other schools, created game notes for the media for each game, and also helped with keeping statistics.
On social media, Alexander created "Warrior Wednesday," which featured an interview with a student-athlete away from their field of play. She also helped put together the Student Athletic Advisory Council's annual award show LCSPYs where she produced the video content. She also increased the athletic department's social media followers by more than 200 this year.
Alexander earned her bachelor's in sports management and master's in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia-Irvine.
