LEWISTON, Idaho – Head Coach
Shaun Pohlman added another piece to the 2021 puzzle with outside hitter Cassidy Nelson. A transfer from UNLV and Laramie County Community College, the South Jordan, Utah native will hit the court with the Warriors

in the fall.
"We are so grateful and lucky to get such an incredible athlete such as Cass," Pohlman said. "Losing our two senior outsides left some big shoes to fill and we are really looking forward to her stepping into that role. Aside from pulling in a DI transfer, we are also adding another Region IX JUCO product and thus far, they have all played large roles in our program's success. I have complete faith that Cass will continue that streak. I can't wait to see her impact on our team and in the conference this fall."
Nelson helped guide LCCC to a ninth-place finish at nationals and was voted All-American Honorable Mention. As a member of the UNLV squad, Nelson and the Rebels won the Mountain West and finished in the nation's top 25 after advancing to the second round of the NCAA DI national tournament. At LCCC, she averaged 3.43 kills per set, 2.45 digs per set and put up 66 blocks alongside fellow LCCC alum and current LC Warrior
Kendzee Cloward.
"I feel beyond excited to play with Cass again this fall," Cloward said. "Having the opportunity to play with her previously at LCC, I know she will be a team player on and off the court and easily make strong connections with the team. As a player, she is going to bring her consistency, passion for the game and drive to win. Overall, we scored a good one and I cannot wait to be in the same jersey again."
A 2018 graduate of Herriman High School in South Jordan, Utah, Nelson helped guide the Mustangs to a 17-9 record as a senior to tie for first in region play. She earned Salt Lake Tribune Class 6A Honorable Mention status and was a first-team all-region performer.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to play for a program that values me as a person and a player, and to be able to continue pursuing my degree here at LC State," Nelson said. "The biggest reason I chose LC was because of the people in the program who will continue to help me grow, not only as a player, but as a person overall."
