Women's Track and Field | 07.06.2021

LEWISTON, Idaho – Alicia Sarver (Ridgevue High School) and Sydnie Zywina (Orofino High School) have signed on to join Lewis-Clark State Track and Field in the fall of 2021. Both will add depth in sprints as part of a strong incoming class.
 
Sarver, a sprinter out of Nampa, Idaho, helped the Ridgevue High School 4x100m relay team to a sixth-place finish at State in 2021. As a sophomore, she aided the 4x200m team in its sixth-place finish and the sprint medley in its fourth-place performance at State. She also competed in volleyball and basketball.
 
"Alicia has been involved in track and field, whether it be school or club, for quite some time," assistant coach Cyrus Hall said. "She competes in the offseason for the Idaho Dash Track Club which is a very good club team based down in the Boise area. She genuinely enjoys the sport of track and field and that is something that we look for because those are the types of athletes that are going to do what it takes to not only improve athletically, but enjoy the process. She ran personal bests in both the 100m, and 200m this spring/summer, so in my mind, Alicia is only beginning to scratch the surface of her potential. We are excited to add her to our short sprints group and see her grow."
 
A native of nearby Orofino, Idaho, Zywina was the State Champion in the triple jump. She helped Orofino to a third-place finish as a team at State in track and field, and also contributed to the volleyball, basketball and golf teams' success. She was voted the volleyball CIL Player of the Year and 2020 Volleyball P1FCU Female High School Athlete of the Year. She also earned the 2021 Kelli Barnett Three-Sport Female Sports Athlete Award. She will compete in a variety of events for the Warriors.
 
Sydnie is someone that we identified as an athlete that we really thought could be a perfect fit for us when we first started recruiting her early in the year," Hall said. "She is a very talented young lady. She's a three-sport athlete having competed in basketball, volleyball, and track and field during her time at Orofino High School, and also has a competitive gymnastics background so she is a very good athlete. We are fortunate that when it came down to it, she decided to come to LC and join our track and field program. She has ability to impact our program in all three sprinting events, relays, and long and triple jump. We feel like with her gymnast background she might be able to pole vault as well, so it should come as no surprise that Sydnie has the ability to help our women's program on and off the track for the next four years."
