WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 22 Warrior women moved into a tie atop the Cascade Conference leaderboard with two victories over the weekend. Brian Orr earned the 500th win of his career on Saturday with the most important win of the season so far. Callie Stevens dropped career-best 30 points in the 71-67 victory over Eastern Oregon to push the Warriors ahead of the Mountaineers in the standings. After hosting Walla Walla, LC State will travel to Bushnell and Corban.
The LC State Warriors took the first meetings with Walla Walla, Bushnell and Corban earlier this season. The Warriors took down Walla Walla 61-50 after trailing at the half. LC defeated the Corban Warriors 105-52 behind 27 points from Stevens and 22 points and 10 rebounds by Maddie Holm. Six LC State players scored in double-digits in the contest. The Warriors edged Bushnell 63-59 with 20 points from Stevens and 17 from Hannah Broyles.
The Warriors clinched a spot in the CCC postseason tournament, and if they remain a top-four seed they will host during the tournament. LC is tied with Southern Oregon with a 14-3 record in conference action.
As a team, LC State leads the CCC in scoring (74.7), scoring margin (+16.0), field goal percentage defense (.338), 3-point field goal percentage (.353), rebounding (43.6), blocked shots per game (4.6), assist/turnover ratio (1.3), and 3-pointers made per game (7.8).
Stevens is the top scorer in the conference, averaging 18.5 points per game. She holds the top spot in 3-pointer made per game (3.1) as well. Holm leads in rebounding (10.9) and Muehlhausen’s 2.3 blocks per game are a CCC best.
