LEWISTON, Idaho – Asotin High School product and former Vandal Chloe Overberg has committed to bring her talents to LC State this spring. After running cross country for Idaho this past season, Overberg will begin her time as a Warrior during outdoor track and field this spring.
 
"Her high school coach did great things with her and she did well at Idaho, but due to her change in majors, we were fortunate enough to have her decide to transfer here," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "I think being closer to home also had something to do with it, but regardless she is going to come in and have an immediate impact. She is a very talented runner, great student and enjoyable to be around. She will undoubtedly help to make the team better in many different ways."
 
Overberg ran in four races for the Vandals, including the LC State Invitational at the LC State Cross Country course. She placed seventh at the meet in Lewiston and placed 50^th at the Big Sky Championships.
 
At Asotin, Overberg was the 2021 1B/2B Washington State Cross Country Champion, and also earned the state title in 3200m in track. She holds the 1600m (5:13) and 3200m (10:38) records at Asotin, as well as the top 5k mark (17:28). Overberg helped the Panthers to a second-place finish at State in 2018.
 
"Right now, our plan is to redshirt the indoor season and let her adapt to school, training and life in general, then get her going once the outdoor season rolls around," Collins explained. "It should be fun in the fall with cross country as we think with all of our returners, other new runners and now Chloe that we should have a good shot at challenging College of Idaho at the conference level and will be looking for a team podium finish at nationals."
