RESULTS
BROOKINGS, S.D. –
LC State records did not stand a chance on Thursday when the Warriors shattered the marks in every event they competed in. Jennah Carpenter repeated as an All-American in the pentathlon to start the weekend, and LC State Track and Field is well on its way to more honors after its strong day-one.

Both Warrior 4x800m relays advanced to the event finals on Friday.

"Another amazing day, and I have to think back at how many times I have said that this year," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "Every event today set a school record and I am not sure we could shake our heads, even at those events that didn't make it to the finals. Then we add Jennah also setting a record and besting her score from a year ago by almost 100 points; really can't complain. Excited about tomorrow. The team is energized and ready to go."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Carpenter finished sixth overall in the five-event pentathlon with a school-record total of 3,472 points, bettering her mark of 3,375 last year. She PRed out of the gate with a time of 9.14 in the 60m hurdles, the third best ever by a Warrior, and was second in the high jump (1.68m).

The junior from Lewiston threw a personal-best 10.07m in the shot put and then was second in the long jump (5.39m) after fouling in her first two attempts. She wrapped up the day with a time of 2:41.19 in the 800m on her way to her fourth All-American honor in her career.

All four LC State relays that ran set Warrior records, and both 4x800m relay teams advanced to Friday's finals. Both entered the weekend as No. 12 seeds and both finished well ahead of those marks in the prelims.

The women's squad of Grace Tiegs, Aubree Williams, Brooklyn Shell and Geraldin Correa clocked a time of 9:14.18, seven seconds better than the previous program record, to place sixth in the prelims. The men's team of Conner May, Cooper Carlson, Griffen Parsells and Carter Gordon shaved three seconds off the school record with a time of 7:41.56 to place third in the prelims. Both teams will race on Friday for All-American honors.

Though they did not advance to the finals, the Warrior 4x400m relay teams made their mark on program history with their performances.

The women's quartet of Madigan Kelly, Sara Hathaway, Anika Grogan and Emily Collins bested the previous Warrior record with a time of 3:55.24. The team placed 14th after being seeded 18th. The men's squad ran almost six seconds better than the previous school record with a time of 3:15.94. The group made up of Ike Hopper, Preston Cooper, Trenton Johnson and London Kirk placed 13th in the field.
