LC State Men’s Track and Field Earns Wins at Lew Thorne Invite

RESULTS
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Warrior Men's Track and Field earned multiple wins and saw a handful of personal-bests to wrap up the Lew Thorne Invite at Eastern Oregon on Saturday.
 
Trenton Johnson accomplished the second-best long jump in school history with his leap of 6.76m. The mark was good enough for second place at the meet. Cameron Carrara was fifth (6.15m), Ike Hopper was ninth (5.77m) and Max Funk placed 13th (5.45m).
 
Johnson later placed second in the 600m with a time of 1:23.40. The time ranks fourth all-time at LC State.
 
Jedidiah Barnaby won the 60m dash and led a group of six Warrior men in the event. The junior clocked a time of 6.91 in the final with Preston Cooper in fifth (7.11) and Jordan Castillo in seventh (7.21). Perry Severijnse was 20th in the prelim (7.40), Carrara was 22nd (7.44) and Tanner Sibert finished (7.56). Sibert placed 11th in the 200m (24.83).
 
Cooper went on to place second in the 400m (50.55).
 
Hopper and Carrara were also in action in the 60m hurdles with Hopper leading the way for LC State in second place (8.65). Carrara ran a PR time of 9.41 to finish sixth.
 
Kobe Wessels led the group of Warrior men in the mile run with a third-place finish in a time of 4:20.66. Griffen Parsells was sixth (4:26.81), Connor Alexander placed 15th (4:34.01) and Clay Shumaker rounded out the top 20 (4:41.21). Manuel Valdez (4:49.94) and Jacob Adams (4:51.17) ran personal bests to place 24th and 27th, respectively.
 
Wessels also led LC State in the 3,000m with a second-place finish in a personal-best time of 8:38.44. Alexander was fourth in the group (9:04.59), Tristin O'Brien was fifth (9:04.66), Valdez placed sixth (9:56.84) and Jace Joslyn was seventh (10:17.70).
 
Three Warriors competed in the pole vault with James Bogdanowicz in third place (4.30m). Brandon Decker was eighth (3.85m) and Hopper cleared a personal-best height of 3.25m to place 10th. In his first action in the shot put, Severijnse finished 19th with a mark of 10.31m.
