RESULTS
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lewiston natives Kobe Wessels and Madigan Kelly made history for their hometown team on Saturday as both earned All-American honors at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

Wessels set the school record and finished third overall in the 1000m. The senior sat near the back of the pack for most of the race, then found a higher gear in the final 200m to surge into third with a time of 2:25.64. The All-American honor is his first individual accolade for track and field.

Kelly solidified herself as the greatest hurdler in LC State history with her first indoor All-American honor. The senior finished sixth in the field with a time of 8.57. Kelly was an All-American at the 2024 outdoor championships, but missed all of 2025 with an injury. She returned for her fifth year and made it count in a big way.

Trenton Johnson finished his indoor career with a 17th-place finish in the men's triple jump. The senior hit a mark of 14.53m, just off his career best, to finish eighth in his flight.

"A great way to finish," coach Mike Collins said. "Although TJ (Johnson) started the day not quite the way we had hoped, he had a great attitude and will use the results to carry him into the outdoor season. Always one of the most upbeat members of the team, making those around him better and if today is any indication, we need to keep him around a bit longer. Just after he finished his last jump, Madigan went to the line and had a great race. Just a tad slow out of the blocks and in a race so short, any loss of time will hurt you, but despite that, finishing in the top six and earning another All-American recognition is a great way to finish your final indoor season.

"About two hours later one of our other Lewiston natives had an outstanding and exciting race in the 1000m and was just shy of finishing second," Collins continued. "Despite that, earning another All-American for Kobe is something we might not have thought possible a month ago, but in working towards finding the right distance for him, I think we finally found it and not a race too late. Both had their families here to see them compete, which I am sure made it even more special. Very excited for both of them and great inspiration for the rest of their teammates as we will hit the outdoor season almost immediately. A great day to be a Warrior."
