Warrior Men Continue Outdoor Season at Whitworth Peace

RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – LC State Men's Track and Field continued to edit the record book on Friday at the Whitworth Peace meet. Newcomers made their presence known in both track and field events.
 
Orofino's Reid Thomas threw the second-best hammer throw ever by a Warrior to place fifth in Spokane. He threw a distance of 54.50m, Ian Roeber was 13th (42.64m) and Zane Hearne was 17th (39.81m).
 
Freshman Harry Lazenby ran the second-fastest 400m in program history to place in the top 10 at the meet. He clocked a time of 49.21 to finish ninth overall, and Avery Seal was 20th with a personal-best time of 50.45.
 
Lazenby was part of the second-best 4x400m relay in school history to help the group place fourth. Jordan Castillo, Preston Cooper, Lazenby and Trenton Johnson ran a time of 3:16.34, while the team of Aidan Grenier, Cameron Carrara, Tristin O'Brien and Seal placed 10th (3:28.18).
 
Cooper was in action in the 100m where he led the Warriors with a 12th-place finish (10.81). Castillo was 14th (10.85), Collin Wimer was 20th (10.99), Perry Severijnse was 46th (11.90) and Max Funk finished 51st (12.08).
 
Lewiston native Cole Arlint made his collegiate debut with a strong performance in the javelin. The freshman threw to the fifth-best mark in program history to place eighth at 51.33m. Fellow Lewiston product Kobe Wessels ran the fifth-fastest 800m in the LC State record book to place third (1:52.09).
 
Wimer clocked the fifth-best 200m dash ever by a Warrior to finish fifth at the meet. He crossed the line in 21.73 with Seal in 18th (22.66) and James Bogdanowicz in 26th (23.08).
 
Senior O'Brien led a group of Warriors in the 5000m with a personal-best time of 15:01.26. He was second in his heat, Ben Vernon was 15th (15:59.98), Alexander Fry was 16th (16:07.09) and Dawson Welliver was 20th (17:04.41).
 
Johnson was the top LC State finisher in the triple jump where he placed sixth (13.70m). Wimer finished 12th (12.66m).
 
Bogdanowicz was seventh in the pole vault (4.44m) and Zack Wolfe was 16th (3.84m). Freshman Isahi Salinas earned a 13th-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.78m. Carrara was 15th (1.73m).
 
Hearne finished 11th overall in the discus as the lone Warrior in the group. He hit a mark of 44.87m. Thomas led LC State in the shot put with a 13th-place finish (14.27m). Micah Fox was 28th (12.56m) and Hearne placed 33rd (12.00m).
 
Freshman Grenier was 13th in the 400m hurdles (57.38).
 
UP NEXT
LC State is back in action with athletes at the Cascade Conference Multi Championships Apr. 16-17. The Warriors will also send competitors to the UO Team Invitational and Whitworth Twilight.
