LEWISTON, Idaho – The men of LC State Cross Country wrapped up their season on Friday with an eighth-place finish at the 2026 Cascade Conference Cross Country Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. The Warriors had four runners in the top 50 and were led by
Malachi Walsh.
"We knew it would need to be close to perfect for us to get the outcome we wanted and beat the teams we needed to in order to earn serious consideration for a national berth," coach
Dr. Michael Collins said. "Unfortunately, we weren't quite perfect. That said, we had several athletes perform very well, we saw some personal bests and our young men gained valuable experience competing in a championship race.
"Our lineup is extremely young with no seniors in our top seven, so the future is very bright," Collins continued. "For our freshmen, we'll have the opportunity to host these championships again during their senior year, and our sophomores could even have another chance if they take advantage of the NAIA's new fifth-year eligibility option. I'm very proud of this group. They'll get some well-deserved physical and mental rest before we shift our focus to track season."
No. 10 Trinity Western upset No. 3 Southern Oregon to win the team title behind top individual Justin Kiplagat. LC State earned 205 points in the 8k race.
