LEWISTON, Idaho – Damaris Kibiwot continued her dominance at the top of the lineup for No. 12 LC State Women's Cross Country with a school record to lead the Warrior women to a second-place finish at the 2026 Cascade Conference Cross Country Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. The team effort, fueled by All-Cascade Conference finishes by Kibiwot and
Kelsey Plymale, earned LC State an automatic bid to the national meet.
No. 2 College of Idaho took home the team title and LC State edged No. 15 Eastern Oregon by one point to earn the second CCC bid. The Warriors totaled 84 points with four runners in the top 25.
"I don't think we ran our best race, but we ran well enough to earn an automatic berth to the national championships," coach
Dr. Michael Collins said. "This marks the 26th consecutive year our women's program has qualified for nationals, and that's a tradition that is entering rare territory in collegiate athletics regardless of sport. It's a testament to the standard these young women continue to uphold."
Kibiwot broke her own school record in the 6k distance with a time of 21:40.1. She crossed the line in seventh to earn All-CCC honors for the third straight season.
Junior Plymale ran the second-best time ever by a Warrior to finish just behind Kibiwot in eighth. Her time of 21:44.3 earned the transfer her first Cascade Conference accolade.
Hannah Berdan ran the best race of her career with a personal-best time of 22:42.0, which ranks ninth in school history, to place 21
st. She edged teammate
Aubree Williams who placed 22
nd (22:45.3).
Sophomores
Eva Lundgren and
Lilly Gilbert each ran a career-best to boost the Warriors past EOU. Lundgren was the fifth LC State runner to finish, doing so with a time of 23:07.8 to place 30
th. Gilbert was 45
th (23:56.9).
Leila Flannery rounded out the group in 57
th to put all Warriors in the top 60 in the field of 94. She ran a time of 24:27.0.
"It was great to see Dama (Kibiwot) and Kelsey earn all-conference honors, and securing the automatic berth takes a little stress off my shoulders heading into the weekend," Collins said. "Over the next two weeks, our focus will be on quality training, recovery and continuing our mental preparation. Like our men, this group does not have a senior in the lineup, so not only are we excited about what this team can accomplish at nationals this season, but the future of the program remains extremely bright as well."
