Dimes for Days – No. 12 LC State Women Set Single-Game Assist Record in Victory Over Walla Walla

LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 12 LC State Women's Basketball rewrote the record book on Wednesday with an energetic 111-44 victory over Walla Walla (Wash.). The Warriors set the program's single-game assist record with 40 dished out and knocked down the third-most 3-pointers in a game with 18. Kendall Wallace led the contest with a standout night that featured a career-high 26 points.

The Warriors' 111 points and 45 field goals made are tied for seventh in a single game. LC State just missed the top 10 in steals with a staggering 25 and committed a season-low five turnovers.

"Fun win for our Warriors tonight. Taking the single-game assist record is absolutely perfect and I am so proud of the way we moved the basketball tonight," coach Caelyn Orlandi said. "Forty assists on 45 made field goals is a truly remarkable feat and to add we only turned it over five times too, I couldn't be more excited. I can go down our list of all the players that played well tonight and what they did great, but every player that played today had influential statistics."

The victory has the LC State record at 17-6 overall and 11-4 in Cascade Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors dominated the first quarter and led 30-5 after 10 minutes. LC State opened the game on a 14-0 run to take control early.

Grace Beardin started the second frame with a triple and Tatum Brager and Beardin went back-to-back from deep to a 41-7 advantage at 7:16. The 34-point difference was the largest of the first half.

A 3-pointer by Wallace sparked a 13-point run to start the third quarter before another triple by the sophomore capped a 10-point rally for a 75-23 lead at 4:44. The Warriors led 79-33 with 10 minutes to play.

A 17-2 stretch got the fourth frame going for LC State, fueled by 3-pointers by Beardin and Wallace, and a 3 by Brager made it 99-37 midway through the quarter. A triple by Bella Firnkoess ended the night.

STAT RECAP
Wallace led all scorers with her career-best 26 points. She also had career-highs in field goals (10), 3-pointers (6), assists (8) and steals (7). The Clarkston native shot 10-for-13 from the field and 6-for-8 from behind the arc.

Beardin tallied a career-best 16 points with a personal-high four 3-pointers, and Brager tied her career-high with 21 points on five triples. Camden Barger dished out a career-high six assists.

The Warriors totaled 40 assists as a team which broke the record set in 1991. Wallace and Hymas led the team with eight and Darian Herring had seven with a game-high six rebounds.

"A game like that is needed at this time of year to get confidence up, see the ball go through the basket, and truly have fun while you play," Orlandi added. "Our best basketball is played when we move the ball and that was on show tonight. Of course, knocking down 3s is always fun and our shooters really had an excellent night displaying how well they can shoot. There were a lot of positives for our team as a whole and I am so proud of all the career highs we had tonight as well."

LC State shot 57% from the field (45-for-79) and 48.6% from 3-point range (18-for-37). The defense forced 33 turnovers for 52 points and only turned the ball over five times. 51 of LC State's 111 points came off the bench. Seven Warriors had at least one rebound, assists, steal and point.

"A great job to our team, a great bounce back game, and we look forward to continuing to improve every day at practice," Orlandi said.

Ally Haslam led Walla Walla with 15 points and Sidney Folkenberg scored 10. Haslam, Maddie Dietrich and Delaney Gunther each grabbed five rebounds.
