SALEM, Ore. – No. 20 Corban (Ore.) showed why it earned the top seed in the 2026 Cascade Conference Women's Basketball Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, on Monday when it defeated No. 17 LC State 57-38.
LC State turns its attention to the 2026 NAIA Women's Basketball First and Second Rounds after it was named a host site on Monday. The tournament is set for Mar. 13-14.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Sitara Byrd and
Kendall Wallace had LC State up 8-2 early in the first quarter, but a surge by Corban had the host in front 12-8 by 4:21. The margin grew to 17-9, but a short rally by LC State had the deficit at 19-13 after 10 minutes.
Payton Hymas scored to start the second frame and Herring cut the margin to 21-17, then Hymas made it a one-point game with a 3-pointer at 6:34 to make it a 21-20 game. Corban's Jersey Huerta scored five straight as the deficit moved to 26-20. LC State kept the game within reach but trailed 29-23 at the half.
Corban opened the third quarter with a 13-point run to take a commanding 42-23 lead by 3:04. LC State found the basket for the first time in the frame with a layup from Herring at 2:47. The LC Warriors trailed 44-25 with 10 minutes to play. The hosting Warriors controlled the remainder of the contest to earn the CCC tournament title.

Hymas led LC State with 14 points. Herring grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds with nine points, four blocks and three steals.
UP NEXT
LC State will host the NAIA First and Second Rounds Mar. 13-14. The tournament field will be revealed on Thursday.
