RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – LC State Track and Field opened the 2026 outdoor season at the Sam Adams Classic on Friday at Whitworth, and Madigan Kelly wasted little time punching her return ticket to nationals in the 100m hurdles.

"This was easily the best opening day of outdoor season that I can remember," coach Mike Collins said. "I keep thinking from year to year as our records get better and better that we're going to slow down when it comes to putting new names and new records in the books, but we definitely didn't slow down today. Across the board in almost all specialty areas we saw new names and new records going in."

Kelly, who earned All-American honors in the indoor 60m hurdles a few weeks ago, punched her ticket to outdoor nationals in the 100m variation of the hurdles. She won the event at the meet with a time of 14.15, which ranks second in the NAIA this season. Olivia Yetter was fifth (17.53).

Senior Grace Tiegs ran the third-fastest 1500m race in school history to place second at the meet. She clocked a time of 4:40.17 and Camille Ussher was not far behind in third (4:41.89).

Freshman Claire Dooley was the top LC State runner in the 100m dash where she ran the fourth-fastest time ever by a Warrior. Her time of 12.65 earned a third-place finish with Kelly in fourth (12.69) and Yetter in 15th (14.23). Dooley ran a time of 26.42 to place fourth in the 200m.

Haylee Appleford led the Warrior women in the discus to start the day. She placed fourth with a mark of 38.37m, Grace Osborne was sixth (37.20m), Hope Zollman placed 10th (35.05m) and Shayvon Williams was 11th (34.74m). Appleford was the lone Warrior in action in the shot put where she placed seventh (11.98m).

Osborne led LC State in the hammer throw in third place (44.66m) and Faith Wersland was fifth (42.92m), Appleford finished in 11th (38.68m) and Williams in 14th (32.72m).

Freshman Nuala Rollins represented LC State in the 3000m steeplechase where she finished second (13:01.65). Kailee Lerew was fourth in the 800m (2:18.35) and Leila Flannery was ninth (2:26.25). Lily Bennett earned a ninth-place finish in the 5000m (19:09.83) and Lilly Gilbert was 14th (19:48.69).
