Warrior Women Fall to Stanton in GSAC Title Tilt

GLENDALE, Ariz. – No. 20 LC State Women's Tennis fell to (RV) Stanton (Calif.) in the title match of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday. The Elks defeated the Warrior women 4-0.
 
LC State will await the announcement of the at-large bids to the NAIA tournament to see if the season will continue.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stanton took the doubles point with quick victories in the top two matches. Carisa Liebenberg and Gwyn Heim were tied 4-4 in the No. 3 doubles contest before the point was clinched.
 
The Elks won the GSAC title with wins in the first, third and fourth singles matches. Heim had the closest of the three where she battled to a 7-5, 6-3 loss in No. 4 singles.
 
Liebenberg and Gettmann each won their first sets in their respective matches. Gettmann was in the midst of her third set in the fifth slot, while Liebenberg was battling in the second in No. 6 singles.
