TEMPE, Ariz. – For the second consecutive season, Kai Fong and Bonolo Arroyo Valenzuela were voted the ITA West Region Coaches of the Year, announced on Thursday. The duo led the LC State Women's Tennis team back into the NAIA Top 25 for the first time since 2019 and earned a runner-up finish in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference tournament.
 
Both Warrior teams were also named ITA West Region Community Service Award Winners.
 
Fong completed his 38^th season at the helm of LC State Tennis with the 2026 season and guided the program to one of its best seasons in recent years. Arroyo Valenzuela worked side-by-side with Fong in her second season after a four-year career with the Warriors under Fong.
 
"Bonolo has worked tirelessly behind the scenes preparing the team for competition all season long," Fong said. "After going through the experience as a Warrior, she relates well to the group. Bonolo is a very integral part of the program's success. She has positively impacted many of the student-athletes."
 
Warrior Women's Tennis ranked as high as No. 20 in the NAIA this season, the highest since 2017, and finished the year with a record of 11-9. LC State was 7-3 against NAIA competition, including an upset victory over then-No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan.
 
Naiara Montero, Lulu Monnayoo and Rayana Shah were each voted All-GSAC and Fong was tabbed the GSAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.
 
The Warriors are active in the community and regularly host Red Cross blood drives throughout the school year in the Tennis Center. The teams are also active on campus with various groups including intramurals and the Association of Student-Athletes.
