No. 2 Warriors Clinch Frontier Conference Title

Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – Now, officially, the LCSC women's basketball team are the champs.

The Warriors clinched at least a share of the Frontier Conference regular season title on Thursday, but Saturday's 79-66 win against Great Falls settles it all.

The win also gives the No. 2 Warriors a 26-1 overall record and a 14-1 conference mark. The Argos fall to 12-13 on the year and 1-13 in the FC.

"It feels good. Again it's a huge advantage," Assistant Coach Aubree Henrie said. "But the girls said they aren't satisfied and are looking for more."

Brooke Litalien and Natahnee Spencer led all scorers with 15 points apiece. Caelyn Orlandi was also in double figures with 13.

The Argos put some pressure on the Warriors in the first quarter. Their lead was never more than three in the quarter but scored five of the first seven points scored in the game for a 5-2 lead. Great Falls held a 21-19 lead after one.

Great Falls scored the first points in the second for a 4-point lead. LCSC regained their first lead since the first quarter when Liltalien nailed a triple with 4:59 left until half. Jansen Edminston hit a pair of free throws just before half, given LCSC a 40-33 lead at the break.

The Warriors didn't pull away from the Argos until the fourth quarter. LCSC scored the first seven points to extend their lead to 13. Their lead dipped under double digits to nine just twice as the Warriors were able to play out the clock for the win.

"We are a veteran and you will see a night where one player may not score but the other three will pick it up," Henrie said. "They trust each other so much that it's easy to have a lot of confidence down to the wire."

LCSC shot 45.8 percent from the floor and missed just one free throw in 20 attempts.

The Warriors hit the road for their next slate of games. LCSC takes on Montana Western on Thursday and Rocky Mountain on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. local time.
