LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State Volleyball's Tori Edwards and Brooke Kaawa added to their list of accolades on Thursday with the AVCA's announcement of the all-region teams. Edwards was named All-Northwest Region First Team, and Kaawa earned Honorable Mention status.
"We are proud as a school, program and team to receive individual recognitions of this level," coach Shaun Pohlman said.
Where All-Frontier Conference awards consist of seven schools, AVCA regional awards pull from 18.
"To get one is a pretty cool thing," Pohlman continued. "but to land two is extra special. Every individual awards comes from the entire contribution from the team and this is an incredible honor everyone gets to own."
Edwards put together a stellar sophomore campaign in her first season with the Warriors, leading the team in kills with 319 and points with 342.0. She averaged 2.90 kills per set and hit at a clip of .236, fourth best in the conference. On defense she put up 34 blocks.
Kaawa wrapped up a strong Warrior career leading the team in kills per set (3.07) and points per set (3.45). The senior was fifth in the conference in kills per set, and second on the team in kills (298) and points (334.5). She served up 20 aces and led all non-defensive specialists and liberos with 188 digs (1.94 per set). She put up six solo blocks and 21 block assists for 27 total blocks. Kaawa finishes her Warrior career with 404 kills on a 2.56 kills per set average.
