DAY ONE RESULTS
BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Lewis-Clark State track and field team began competition at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Thursday. The highlight of the day came in the 4x800m relay when the Warriors set a school record to qualify for the finals on Friday.
Day One: Feb. 28, 2019
The 4x800m relay set a program record in their preliminary race, finishing second in their heat with a time of 9:22.68. The quartet of Rylee Brown, Maja Plaznik, Dallas Borrego and Rebecca Saxton finished fifth overall and will race in the finals on Friday. Brown set a new personal-record with her split in the race.
"It was a nice performance and across the board the girls were really similar in their splits," coach Mike Collins said. "Each of them carried their own weight."
Jenny Sapp won the 800m run in the pentathlon with a time of 2:21.34. Overall in the event, Sapp finished 14th.
The 4x400m relay team of Sapp, Brooke McClurkin, Rebekka Kalmbach and Abby Snyder placed 15th with a time of 3:58.17.
The Warriors are back at it tomorrow in the 4x800m relay finals. Saxton will race in the 800m run and Madi Carson will compete in the pole vault.
