CHENEY, Wash. –
Dallas Borrego and
Rylee Brown tied for first in the 400 meters to lead Lewis-Clark State's track and field teams in the weather-shortened Pelluer Invitational at Eastern Washington University.
Borrego and Brown were timed in one minute, 2.22 seconds to finish ahead of teammate
Natalie Robinson, who was third in 1:04.29.
Before the rain and wind knocked out the timing system, Nik Roussos,
Owen Lanning and
Jacob Cervantes also turned in some strong performances for the Warriors. Roussos was second in the 110 hurdles (16.60) with Lanning finishing second in the decathlon with 6,109 points – just ahead of teammate
Falk Thieme (5,784). Cervantes was fourth in the javelin (140-6).
"It was pretty miserable," LC coach
Mike Collins said after the Warriors spent the day in temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s along with rain and winds of up to 20 mph. "But, I was pleased with the entire team's toughness."
