SPOKANE, Wash. – The Lewis-Clark State track and field team earned two more national qualifying marks this past weekend at WAR 12, hosted by Spokane Falls CC.
Cole Olsen got the week started with a B qualifying time in the 10,000m run on Friday, and the women's 4x400m relay also hit a B qualifying time on Saturday.
"It was a pretty brutal day for competition with wind, rain and cold temperatures throughout the day," coach
Mike Collins said. "Things didn't really clear up until the last events of the day, the 4x400m relay."
"The most outstanding performance of the day had to go to Jazmin Bryan who won the women's 400 meters and was part of the 4x400m relay team," Collins said. "It was one of the biggest competitions of the year with almost 1000 athletes competing. "
The Women
The women's 4x400m team of Maise McManus,
Jazzmin Bryan,
Abby Snyder and
Jenny Sapp earned their B mark with a time of 3:56.82 to place second in the event.
Bryan had a strong day on the track to go with her leg of the 4x400m relay. She won the 400m dash with a time of 58.16 and finished in the top 10 of the 200m dash (26.78).
McKinley Litton (59.39) and
Karlie Smith (1:00.82) also finished in the top 10 of the 400m.
Also in action in the 200m dash,
Madi Carson finished in the top 10 as well (26.82). The sophomore placed sixth in the 100m dash (13.10).
Dallas Borrego and
Rylee Brown both had good showings in the 800m and both finished in the top 10 with times of 2:20.70 and 2:23.78, respectively.
The Men
Olsen continued his dominant senior campaign with a B qualifying time in the 10,000m run. He placed third overall with a time of 31:28.80.
Sam Weeks placed sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.23.
Alixander Morse had a pair of strong performances in the hurdles. The junior finished fifth (15.55) in the 110m hurdles, and eighth (56.48) in the 400m section of the event.
Falk Thieme came in second (6.58m/21'7.25") in the long jump, while
Cameron Preston finished sixth in the pole vault (3.90m/12'9.50").
Owen Lanning was seventh in the high jump (1.80m/5'10.75").
