LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State track and field announced that Christian Bothwell will be joining the Warriors as a decathlete for the 2020 season. Bothwell comes to LC from Wood River High School in Hailey, Idaho.
Bothwell will be competing in the decathlon for the Warriors and has been trying new events throughout his senior year to prepare for the rigors of the 10 events that make up the multi. In his first year in the high jump, Bothwell qualified for the 4A State meet.
"I am excited to be adding Christian," coach
Cyrus Hall said. "He played football, basketball and competed in track and field in high school, so he's definitely athletic. He is a young guy with a ton of upside and seeing that we are losing a couple talented decathletes to graduation, it's nice to have the next man up in place and ready to go.
"I'm really excited to work with Christian, because he's really not done most of the events in the decathlon. Coach
Matt Kelley and I will have the opportunity to teach him how we want things done from the ground up. It might take him a year or two in order to get comfortable with a few events, but he will certainly have the ability to be a player on the Nationals scene once he does."
