Jensen Voted Women’s Track and Field MVP of the Decade

LEWISTON, IdahoAriel Jensen was voted the LC State Women's Track and Field All-Decade MVP after a career that saw three All-American finishes and eight LC State records. She leads a group of current and former Warriors on the Women's Track and Field All-Decade Team.
 
Also voted into the group by fans were: (alphabetically) Madi Carson, Kaytlyn Coleman, Rachel Cundy and Chelsey Leighton.
 
Jensen (2014-18) holds eight LC State records and is a three-time All-American in the indoor 800m. She broke the indoor 600m, 800m, 1,000m and outdoor 800m records to start her career and continued to excel from there. In her sophomore season, Jensen earned All-American status with a sixth-place finish. She went on to place eighth as a junior, then third as a senior for her third All-American title. She currently holds school records in the indoor 600m (1:36.78 – 2018 Cougar Indoor), indoor 800m (2:31.47 – 2018 Vandal Invitational), indoor 1,000m (3:01.01 – 2015 BSU Team Challenge), indoor DMR (12:05.33 – 2015 indoor nationals), outdoor 800m (2:12.57 – 2015 Border Clash), outdoor 4x400m relay (3:48.60 – 2018 outdoor nationals), and the outdoor 4x800m relay (9:19.24 – 2016 Linfield Open).
 
Carson (2017-present) has solidified herself as one of the top field athletes in LC State Track and Field history. In her sophomore season, she became the first Warrior, male or female, to qualify for nationals in the pole vault. Her performance at indoor nationals shattered the previous school record with a mark of 3.77m (12'4.5"). She finished as the National Runner-Up. She hit the same mark at indoor nationals as a junior and placed sixth. She currently holds records in the indoor 60m dash (8.07 – 2019 BSU Team Challenge), indoor pole vault (3.77m/12'4.5" – 2019 indoor nationals), outdoor pole vault (3.75m/12'3.5" – 2018 Linfield Open), outdoor long jump (5.22m/17'1.5" – 2018 Whitworth Twilight), and the 4x100m relay (49.00 – 2019 Whitworth Twilight).
 
One of the top throwers to compete at LC State, Coleman (2012-14) dominated the throwing events during her time as a Warrior. In the 2013 season, she earned All-American status in the indoor weight throw with a seventh-place finish. She finished the year with a fifth-place finish in the shot put and third-place finish in the hammer throw at outdoor nationals for two more All-American titles. Coleman continued to excel during her second season and finished as the National Runner-Up in the weight throw at indoor nationals. She then repeated as an All-American in the outdoor shot put (seventh place) and hammer throw (fourth place). She currently holds school records in the indoor shot put (13.54m/44'5.25" – 2014 WSU Cougar Indoor), indoor weight throw (18.92m/62'1" – 2014 Idaho Vandal Open), outdoor shot put (14.43m/47'4.25" – 2013 Sasquatch Carnival), and the outdoor hammer throw (56.41m/185'1" – 2013 outdoor nationals).
 
Cundy (2013-16) was also a member of the LC State Women's Cross Country All-Decade Team. A two-time All-American in track, she excelled in the 5,000m race. She qualified for the event all three years at LC State and finished as an All-American as a junior (fifth place) and senior (third place). She placed 13th in the 1500m outdoor race as a senior. Cundy currently holds program records in the indoor 5,000m (17:32.44 – 2015 indoor nationals), outdoor 3,000m (10:09.55 – 2015 Oregon Twilight), and the outdoor 10,000m (36:45.34 – 2015 San Francisco State Distance Carnival).  
 
A native of nearby Lapwai, Idaho, Leighton (2009, 2011-14) became the second Warrior woman to win the marathon at the NAIA National Championships in 2014, finishing in 3:02:25.10. Along with her individual National Champion title, she also holds the program record in the half marathon (1:25.23) set at the Snake River Half Marathon in 2013. She went on to place ninth in the marathon at nationals that season.
 
Katrina Nolan, Jenny Sapp and Delaney Warren were also included in the poll.
