CORVALLIS, Oregon – After a dominant opening weekend, the No. 5 Lewis-Clark State Men's Basketball team was named the Cascade Conference's Under Armour Team of the Week. The Warriors opened the 2020-21 season with two wins over the visiting Yellowstone Christian Centurions, with an 82-54 victory on Friday and a 98-49 win on Saturday.
Travis Yenor led the Warriors in scoring and rebounding on Friday with 18 points and seven boards. He was 6-for-7 from behind the 3-point line. Damek Mitchell added 11 points and grabbed six rebounds and dished out six assists. As a team, LC State drained 15 3-pointers and shot 62.5 percent from 3. They shot 51.8 percent from the field.
A 22-2 run opened up Saturday's contest, aided by a streak of 20 straight points. Mitchell led the offense in the second game of the season with 18 points. He was 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range. Trystan Bradley tallied 16 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the 3-point line. Freshman Oreon Courtney posted 14 points off the bench, Hodges Bailey dropped 11 and Brock Henry put up 10. Yenor led the team with six boards and Silas Bennion had five assists. The Warriors shot 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3. The LC State defense held Yellowstone Christian to a 30.9 shooting percentage from the field. Every Warrior scored in the contest.
