LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman standout Grecia Ung Enriquez added to her list of accolades with an all-region nod, announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Friday. The native of Sonora, Mexico earned AVCA All-Northwest Region Honorable Mention honors in her debut season.
 
"Grecia brings a lot of fire and aggressiveness to the court as a true freshman," Head Coach Shaun Pohlman said. "It is incredible to learn that she earned this while rehabbing from an injury for almost the entire first half of the conference season. We look forward to Grecia's continued growth and development in her time as a Warrior."
 
In her first season with the Warriors, Ung Enriquez dazzled from the start. The outside hitter quickly made a name for herself with her top-spin serve and hard-hit kills. She tallied 12 kills and three service aces in her first match, and continued to be one of the Warriors' top performers all year. After missing a few matches at the start of conference play, she regained her momentum and averaged 2.70 kills per set.
 
Ung Enriquez tallied a career-high 20 kills in a five-set victory at Northwest and recorded a season-best .560 attack percentage with 15 kills at Warner Pacific. She finished her freshman campaign with 219 kills, 24 aces and 127 digs. She assisted on 16 blocks.
 
"With the region consisting of both the Frontier and the Cascade Conference, we are very enlivened to make this list," Pohlman added. "The talent pool between the two conferences is so deep. As an indicator, five teams between the two conferences made the national tournament, so hers is a difficult accolade to earn. Finally, I will always give props to the entire team because volleyball is truly a team sport that requires everyone."
