YANKTON, S.D. - The 2021 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships kick off on Wednesday and run through Saturday. 11 Warrior athletes qualified for the meet, including four individuals and two relay teams. The meet will be hosted by Dakota State University in Yankton, S.D.

LC State had only one indoor meet, the Polar Vortex Classic, on the schedule this season, meaning one shot for the Warriors to qualify.

MEN
Cole Olsen and
Clayton VanDyke will represent the Warrior men at nationals this week. Olsen will race in the 5,000m as the eighth seed after his win in Caldwell with time of 14:42.24. VanDyke, the USTFCCCA West Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, will run the 1,000m as the third seed. He won the event at the Polar Vortex Classic with a time of 2:28.29 to qualify.

The prelims for the 1,000m race will take place on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. PT, with the finals happening on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT. Olsen will race in the 5,000m on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT.

WOMEN
Madi Carson and
Ashley Britt will compete in individual events at nationals for Warrior Women's Track and Field. Carson, a two-time All-American in the event, qualified for the pole vault and is the 11th seed in the event with her 3.57m mark. Britt will race the 600m as the 13th seed at the meet with her qualifying time of 1:38.65. She is also a member of 4x400m relay squad and will race in both prelims on the same day.

Karlie Smith enter as the 14th-seeded group with a qualifying time of 3:59.65.
Emily Adams,
Rylee Brown,
Geraldin Correa and
Maja Plaznik are seeded 10th (9:36.16) in the 4x800m relay.

The women's 600m, 4x400m relay and 4x800m relay prelims, as well as the pole vault final, will take place on Wednesday. The relays will race early, with the 4x800m running at 7:15 a.m. PT, and the 4x400m relay at 7:45 a.m. PT. Britt will run the 600m prelim at 12:45 p.m. PT, and Carson will vault at 4 p.m. PT. The finals for track events will take place on Friday with the 4x800m relay running at 7:30 a.m. PT, the 600m at 10:15 a.m. PT, and the 4x400m relay at 1:45 p.m.
