KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A stellar debut for Leon Menten earned the LC State Track and Field freshman national recognition as the NAIA Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The javelin thrower from Antwerp, Belgium shattered the school record and currently holds the top mark in the NAIA in the event.

Menten threw his javelin to a mark of 63.36m (207'10") to win the event at the NCAA DI heavy Whitworth Essential on Friday. His throw broke the school record, previously held by coach Jacob Whittaker (52.31m) and holds the top spot in the NAIA this season by nearly eight meters (25 feet).

The Warriors head back to Spokane for the Whitworth Invitational and Multis on Thursday and Friday.
