YANKTON, S.D. –
Clayton VanDyke became the second Warrior to advance to an individual final with a dominant race in Thursday's 1,000m prelims at the 2021 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships. The senior, who was the National Runner-Up in the 800m last year, had the top time in prelims at 2:29.92. He will race in the final on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT.
"I thought he looked pretty good," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "He looked very comfortable and he said he was comfortable not pressing. It should be exciting to see him race and I'm excited to see what he is able to do."
Cole Olsen will also race on Saturday in the 5,000m final at 1 p.m. PT. The Warrior women compete in their finals on Friday, starting with the 4x800m relay team at 7:30 a.m. PT. Ashley Britt races in the 600m at 10:15 a.m. PT and then joins the 4x400m relay at 1:45 p.m. PT.
