LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College Men's and Women's Golf teams kick off their spring season on Monday and Tuesday in the Oregon Tech Spring Invitational, which will be held at the Eagle Point Golf Course in Eagle Point, Ore.
Both Warriors teams have played in just one exhibition match during the past year as both defeated the College of Idaho in a fall duel. But even that duel was cut short by snow.
The first tournament of the spring should give the Warriors a good look at the competition in their new conference as several other Cascade Collegiate Conference members are scheduled to tee it up.
On the women's side, host Oregon Tech is the favorite and the only CCC school ranked in the NAIA Top 25, coming in at No. 15. Both LC State and Corban received votes.
The Warrior women's squad features plenty of experience this spring with five seniors and three juniors. Senior
Lauren Hamm and junior
Alexandra Schmidt were All-Frontier Conference selections in their last full year of competition.
On the men's side, Oregon Tech was the only Cascade Conference school to receive votes.
The LC men are led by juniors
Carlos Davila and
Devon Caruso, along with senior
Justin Cox.
Following this two-day tournament, the Warriors will play host to consecutive two-day events. The Warrior Spring Invitational will be held at Red Wolf Golf Club in Clarkston on March 15-16, and the LC State Invitational is set for the Lewiston Golf & Country Club on March 22-23.
