CORVALLIS, Ore. –
Clayton VanDyke wasted little time hitting national-qualifying times for outdoor track upon his return from the spring cross country season. The senior ran the sixth-fastest times in the NAIA in both the 800m and 1,500m at the Sam Adams Classic on Saturday en route to being voted the Cascade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
VanDyke won the 800m by two seconds (1:52.61) and finished second in the 1,500m (3:54.48) behind an NCAA DI runner in Spokane over the weekend. Both times rank sixth in the NAIA currently and are B national-qualifying standards.
The Warriors return to the track for the Cascade Conference Multis on Thursday and Friday. Three LC State students will be in action with Madi Carson,
Caleb Moore and
Christian Bothwell competing at the event.
Stay up to date will all things Warrior Athletics at lcwarriors.com and on social media @LCWarriors.
