SPOKANE, Wash. – LC State Track and Field put together one of strongest all-around days this season at the Bucs Scoring Challenge, hosted by Whitworth University. In all, the Warriors hit automatic-qualifying standards in three events, provisional standards in four events, set two school records and had multiple personal-bests.
"After a rough start, our kids started running well and competing well," coach
Cyrus Hall said. "Our vaulters were lights out. I am really proud of them. They came out at higher heights than they ever have.
Clayton VanDyke continues to do
Clayton VanDyke things, and
Cole Olsen continues to do
Cole Olsen things.
"To cap it off our relays balled out. The women (4x400m relay) hit the A standard. That is the fastest the men (4x400m relay) have run ever. We have been trying to get them on par with the women, so the fact that they shaved a bunch of time off and set the school record is great and I think we can still run faster. Overall, I thought everyone was great"
THE MEN
The duo of
Clayton VanDyke and
Cole Olsen found success in the meet, each hitting an A standard in their events. VanDyke won the 800m with a time of 1:52.23, just .21 seconds off the school record. Olsen won the 10,000m with a time of 30:56.96.
VanDyke joined the 4x400m relay team of
Sean Spencer,
