DAY 1 RESULTS
 
LA GRANDE, Ore. – LC State kicked off its first-ever Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, on Friday and earned four All-Cascade Conference honors and had two Warriors win individual titles. Clayton VanDyke and Cole Olsen both came away from day 1 with CCC individual titles in distance events, while Geraldin Correa and Connor Turpin both finished second in their events to earn all-conference.
 
"It is pretty exciting to be in the first day ever in the Cascade Conference Championships," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "The day started off pretty well. I thought we had some girls that PRed in the long jump today and got the day going. Some of our other races went really well also. We saw a couple of PRs in our women's 1,500m today, and our 100m hurdlers on the women's side did extremely well. It was exciting to have seen that and been able to watch that. We had girls score on the 10,000m, and on the men's side we went 1-2 with Cole Olsen winning the race and Connor Turpin finishing second. It was a great ending to the first day and we are excited about tomorrow."
 
THE WOMEN
Geraldin Correa earned the first All-Cascade Conference honor of the day for LC State with her second-place finish in the 1,500m. She clocked in with a time of 4:46.86. Rylee Brown finished ninth in the event at 4:57.01. Both times are personal-records.
 
Brooklyn Shell finished just shy of all-conference with her fourth-place time of 12:20.81 in the 3,000m steeplechase. The time was a personal-best for the sophomore. The Warrior women also grabbed a fourth-place finish in the 4x100m relay. Nikki Halbert, Rebekka Kalmbach, Karlie Smith and Anika Grogan finished the event with a time of 49.06.
 
Ashley Britt claimed fourth place in the 100m hurdles with her time of 15.28. Sara Hathaway finished eighth in the event with a time of 15.67, Madi Carson was 10^th (15.79), and Keelyn Pilcher was 14^th (16.70).
 
In the 400m dash, Smith tied her career-best with a time of 58.80 to finish sixth. Correa also ran in the event and placed 13^th (1:01.83).
 
Freshman Abigail Gorton earned a fifth-place finish in the 10,000m with a time of 42:48.68. She bested her previous personal-record by nearly two minutes. Abigail Peightal was just behind her in sixth with a career-best 43:37.68.
 
Chelsie Testa earned a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.30m. Carson was just behind her in eighth at 5.29m, and Hathaway also competed in the long jump and placed 13^th with a mark of 4.59m. All three hit personal-bests.
 
THE MEN
Clayton VanDyke wasted no time making his presence known with a victory in the 1,500m. He became the Cascade Conference champion in the event with a time of 3:55.62. Cole Olsen and Connor Turpin wrapped up the first day of competition with a 1-2 punch in the 10,000m. Olsen won the event at 30:58.04, while Turpin crossed the line second with a time of 31:21.92. Olsen set the conference championship record in the process and both ran times faster than the previous facility record. Both are also national-qualifying times.
 
Caleb Moore ran a strong 110m hurdles, finishing fourth with a personal-best time of 15.67. Ike Hopper ran a time of 50.58 in the 400m dash to earn a sixth-place finish.
 
Andrew Larson and Brady Nelsen both competed in the 3,000m steeplechase. Larson finished sixth with a time of 10:14.54, and Nelsen was 11^th at 10:29.91. David Phillis saw action in the 1500m race where he finished 12^th (4:19.20).
 
The 4x100m relay team of Dillon Novich, Christian Bothwell, Nikolous Bertling and Louis Pennow placed seventh at the meet with a time of 44.23.
 
Jaycob Atencio and Jack Hardee both saw action in the hammer throw and finished 16^th and 17^th, respectively. Atencio hit a mark of 39.51m in the event, and Hardee threw his implement a distance of 37.45m.
