GULF SHORES, Ala. –
Connor Turpin got the final day of the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field started at the crack of dawn. The Lewiston native became the second Warrior on the men's side to earn All-American status in the marathon with his third-place in the marathon. Clayton Vandyke finished as the National Runner-Up in the 1,500m.
Delaney Warren capped her career with her second All-American honor after hitting a personal-record in the discus.
In total, LC State is bringing home six All-Americans, with three earned in throwing events and three in distance, and an individual national champion. As a team, the LC State men finished tied for eighth at the meet with 28 points, marking the first-ever top-10 finish for LC State Track and Field.
"It is a great day to be a part of Warrior Track and Field," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "A lot of great things happened throughout the day and throughout the week. We had our first-ever top-10 team performance on the men's side. A couple little changes and we could've brought home a trophy."
THE MEN
Turpin was up bright and early in his marathon race. The junior from Lewiston set off at 4 a.m. PT and finished his race with a time of two hours and 42 minutes. He is the second Warrior on the men's side to earn All-American status in the event. Jonny Handel also placed third in his 2019 race.
"
Connor Turpin really started the day well in the marathon," Collins said. "He really followed the plan and did everything he was supposed to do. If that race was any longer I think he'd win that thing. He was excited, I was excited, his family was excited, and I think he really epitomizes the true nature of our program which is very blue collar."
VanDyke claimed the third National Runner-Up title of his career with his second-place finish in the 1,500m. He finished .47 seconds behind the winner in the event after pulling ahead of a runner in front of him.

In the 5,000m final,
Cole Olsen placed 12
th with a time of 15:08.72.
Andrew Carlyle made his first appearance on the national stage in the pole, but failed to clear the starting height.
THE WOMEN
Warren earned the second All-American status of her career with an eighth-place finish in the discus. The senior launched her implement a distance of 43.73m, a personal-best, to cap her Warrior career.
"Delaney came into this meet as the 25
th ranked thrower and ended as an All-American in a great way to end her career," Collins said. "
