LEWISTON, Idaho – Track and field will begin its 2022 slate of competition this weekend in Spokane, and LC State Basketball returns to the P1FCU Activity Center for a pair of Cascade Conference matchups. TRACK & FIELD

The Warriors will compete for the first time in 2022 at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Washington State, in Spokane on Jan. 14 and 15. LC State had five Warriors qualify for indoor nationals at the first meet of the season and will look to add on to the total while improving marks. 

Clayton VanDyke holds the top time in the NAIA in the 800m this season (1:52.38) and is second in the mile (4:13.40). Cole Olsen currently holds the second-fastest time in the 5000m this season (14:33.24). The women’s 4x400m relay team of Anika Grogan, Karlie Smith, Madigan Kelly and Ashley Britt are the third-fastest in the NAIA this season (3:57.11), and Kelly’s 60m hurdles time of 9.15 is 16th-best so far this season.

LC State will compete in the two-day Cougar Classic this Friday and Saturday. The Podium will be streaming events and have live results. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Warrior women return to action this weekend when they host Corban on Friday and Bushnell on Saturday. After not being able to compete last weekend, LC holds a 6-3 record in CCC to put the Warriors fourth in the conference.  

LC State last faced the Corban Warriors in Nov. of 2018 and earned an 95-84 victory. LC is 3-0 against Corban dating back to 2009. Corban has struggled in the 2021-22 season with a CCC record of 1-8, 2-14 overall. The Warriors defeated Bushnell (then Northwest Christian) 98-54 in the last meeting in 2016. LC State is 2-0 against the Beacons dating back to 2009. Bushnell is currently second in the CCC standings with a conference record of 7-2, 10-7 overall. 

The Warriors lead the Cascade Conference in field goal percentage defense (.336) and rebounding (45.5), as well as blocked shots per game (5.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3). LC State is the best 3-point shooting team in the CCC with 7.6 made per game. 

Maddie Holm leads the conference in rebounding (11.8) and Sara Muehlhausen leads in blocked shots per game at 2.2.

Nationally, LC is in the top 10 in field goal percentage defense and blocked shots per game. 

MEN'S BASKETBALL

LC State Men’s Basketball hits the court this weekend with contests against Corban and Bushnell in the P1FCU Activity Center. The Warriors are tied for third in the Cascade Conference with a record of 6-3. 

The LC State Warriors defeated the Corban Warriors 86-73 when they last faced off in 2019 and are 6-0 in meetings dating back to 2006. Corban is tied for sixth in the CCC with a conference record of 4-5, 9-8 overall. The Warriors are 2-0 against Bushnell, previously Northwest Christian, dating back to 2009. LC defeated the Beacons 102-96 when the two last met in 2019. Bushnell is 2-7 in conference play with a 4-12 overall record. 

The Warriors lead the Cascade Conference in scoring defense (65.6), scoring margin (23.5), field goal percentage defense (.383) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (.285), as well as rebounding (46.0), rebounding margin (12.6) and assist/turnover ratio (1.6). 

On the national scale, the Warriors are in the top 10 in field goal percentage defense and are third in rebounding.
